I am addressing everyone in my contact list, but before I go further about learning and growing, I want to set a context first.
Today was my son’s first day at school. I asked him to visit his sister’s school with me. At first, he asked many questions like why we were visiting the school, why his sister goes to school, if there were any toys he could play with, and if other kids went to school. But eventually, he stood up and walked with me, taking small steps (#babysteps).
When we reached the school, his class teacher greeted him warmly. He was nervous and didn’t know what was going on. His teacher took him to the class and started playing with him with alphabet block toys, marking the beginning of a new chapter in my son’s life.
The reason behind this story is that we all feel nervous when we jump into any new business, framework, or #programming #language for the first time.
At the start, we don’t know how to handle the business, framework, or language. The best way to begin is by asking as many questions as possible and seeking references and examples, just as my son did, to have a better understanding of what we are going to deal with.
Then, start taking baby steps. For example, if you are writing code, write your code in small chunks and test it. If nothing is broken, start adding more code.
If you are unsure about anything, ask your mentor (teacher), who can guide you, teach you, and help you gain a better understanding.
This is a life lesson for me and for you as well: always take baby steps to understand what you are dealing with.
