Do you know how athletes reach their true potential?
Some athletes challenge themselves by setting goals that are difficult to achieve. Others may try to improve their performance by pushing harder during exercise.
What does challenging yourself mean? It means you’ve stepped out of your comfort zone and taken on a new job or something that requires creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
We all subconsciously know that challenges teach us to grow as people and help us become better versions of ourselves.
Your challenges may seem small, like getting up early or quitting bad habits like smoking, but they are challenges nonetheless. Everyone’s experience is different.
Lazy people like me
There are a lot of lazy people like me who don’t want to step out of their comfort zone, so here are a few points that will help you challenge yourself as I’ve done in the past.
- Make your goals realistic and achievable.
- Write down your goals on paper and create an action plan.
- Visualize your goals and take the necessary action to reach there.
- Measure your progress.
- Reconsider your goals if necessary.
With the points/ways above, you can set new goals every day and learn and experience new things every day. If you’re having a hard time challenging yourself, breaking your goals into small steps is a great way to start.
The hardest part of challenging yourself
The hardest thing about challenging yourself is that new challenges are sometimes scary. They push you out of your comfort zone and you never know if letting go of old ways of thinking and habits will improve your personal growth. However, setting new goals is difficult but leads to new opportunities.
Challenges stimulate thinking and require concentration. Studies show that mental challenges stimulate brain function and help reduce anxiety and depression.
Doing something different that requires focus and effort can help you learn something new, gain a different perspective, and refresh and energize your everyday life.
